HIS TOMORROW

Far in the sky, alone
The light went out
from flesh and bone
so young;
uncomforted, unsung.

We know no song
To tell this wrong,
We who must borrow
His tomorrow.
Can we in part repay?
Shall we who stay
Learn new morality
From his mortality:
Purpose that universal fellowship
Shall here arise,
Not in some world beyond the skies?

Else is it vainly out!
